News: The PC statement on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of its foundation

Statement
On the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular Council foundation
Dear sons of our Chaldean Syriac Assyrian (Soraya) people at home and abroad
On 15 of May each year we renew with faith, determination, perseverance, firmness, self-denial and real national work, the CSAPC  celebrations with its people in home and abroad on the anniversary of its establishment, where the sixth anniversary pass and the PC is stronger and more confident in working for our people’ interest, and during this short time and a full record of achievements, gains, and substantive, clear, logical and explicit positions of all national issues, it has proved to have its role in the national action among our people.
The Council was able with practicing democracy and the votes of our people at home to have five parliamentary seats in the Iraqi Parliament and the Parliament of the Kurdistan Region, and received a ministry in the Region as an election right, and took confident steps in achieving its objectives and ensuring the legitimate rights of our people, as well as activating its role based on the decisions, recommendations and the political program of the two PC conferences on December 2007 and January 2009.  The Council has an active and leading role on delivering our people’s voice, their national demands and the injustice done to them to the Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region governments as well as the international community, through its presidency, its executive general boards, its offices and committees at home and abroad and its representatives in the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Kurdistan Parliament, where it organized during its struggle many successful conferences and international meetings, in many countries of the world which have had a significant impact on stirring the world public opinion towards our fair issue, also was able to overcome all the difficulties, challenges and obstacles it encountered during its national march, with determination and confidence, where the pioneer founders of the Council and its members and supporters declared their position against frustration, despair, and the painful situation of our people, and their institutions in home, through its firm belief of our national unity, the importance of joint work, the united discourse, the legitimacy of our rights, the justness of our cause and sacrificing in order to achieve our complete rights just like our partners in homeland, despite the emergence of some attempts that sought to tear and divide our national unity to serve some personal interests, and which have been rejected by our people in many democratic electoral practice and  national position.
Today our Council and its people celebrate the sixth anniversary of its founding, where we have to commend its role in the gains our people achieved in the Kurdistan Region, by including the national unity of our people and the autonomy in the draft Constitution of the Kurdistan Region, which is considered a historic achievement made for our people at home. The Council, our people parties and organizations, the clergy, the Dignitaries Councils and other institutions had the prominent role in responding to the series attempts of bringing about the demographic change that affect the historical areas of our people, the PC takes this topic so seriously because it carries a lot of risks and it fears the presence of serious attempts to confiscate our rights in our historical land by seizing them under various pretexts, and on this basis we renew our call to the Government of Iraq to response to our people’s call and stop these serious abuses, which sometimes are passed in the name of public interest and construction and at other times in the name of democracy and human rights, in an apparent attempt to terminate our cultural and social identity, to cancel our national and historical presence and to seize our historical lands, so we ask the Iraqi government to apply the Council of Ministers decision on developing sub-districts and municipality sections in the Nineveh Plain, to provide an opportunity for the other components in the region to own lands outside our areas and our land, we also ask the Kurdistan Regional Government to continue to raise the encroachments in some villages and towns of our people in the region, as this will contribute to protecting the privacy of our towns, our national presence and our cultural identity and will put an end to immigration bleeding and the encroachments on our territory.
On the national common work and the unified discourse levels, which were embodied in the establishment of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Political Organizations Assembly in homeland in 2010, and where the Council had an active, a vital and essential role in establishing it, for our firm belief in the national work and the common discourse among our organizations, in order to achieve the legitimate demands, including the development of the province for our people in the Nineveh Plain on geographical and administrative basis in participation with the other national and religious components coexisting there, as well as the autonomy in the Kurdistan Region, and participating in the elections in a coalition and a united electoral list, and to work together in various national positions and activities. The days and experiences of the past have proven that every organization or institution’s alone decision led to the loss of many opportunities and gains for the benefit of our people. Our firm conviction is that our people’s getting their full rights as an essential partner in the home can only be achieved by uniting our organizations work, with the spirit of one family and one team no matter how long that might take.
Our people in the country still suffer from marginalization and the repercussions of the non-stable political and security conditions, the unemployment and lack of confidence on returning to their work and home in many parts of Iraq, especially in Baghdad and Mosul, and this makes them be the prey and victim of migration, despite the promises and the emotional and sympathetic speech of Iraqi officials that have no real actions on the ground, so our Council calls for the Iraqi Government to take exceptional and serious measures to address the concerns and problems of our people in homeland, and those who have returned from neighboring countries and the Diaspora, so as to meet their legitimate demands and needs on having decent work, housing, compensation and security, without delay or procrastination, because they are affected psychologically and physically due to the circumstances in home where they are considered the weakest link.
Despite the passage of ten years since the fall of the dictatorial regime, our country is still going through a very sensitive, dangerous and difficult conditions, and the political process as a whole is threatened to become a failure, and its future is on the edge, where it  faces a lot of obstacles and complications due to the differences of positions and interests conflicts between the large political parties and blocs on wealth and influence, also putting the personal interest over the national interests, the loss of confidence in one another, the absence of dialogue, wisdom and calm in addition to the regional interventions in Iraq’s affairs; on the basis of the national partnership principles and as a contribution of our Council in the political process, we appeal to our brothers in all the large political blocs in Iraq for a comprehensive national reconciliation, and to address the crises, disputes and differences with dialogue and negotiations, in accordance with the supreme national interest of all sects of the Iraqi people, on the basis of no victor nor loser.
Regarding the continuation of popular protests and strikes and the escalation in some provinces, our Council supports the constitutional and legitimate demands of protestors and appeal to the Government and the Parliament not to involve the army in this situation nor using rapid force, and instead to address those legitimate demands to ensure that justice and the realization of rights are achieved for all the Iraqi components, this will prevent those behind the border from exploiting the exceptional circumstances to pass their agenda and twist the real purpose of the protests, which as a result will not serve the national interest and the historically unity of the Iraqi components.
With regard to the difficult and painful circumstances and conditions of the Syrian people, including our CSA (Soraya), our Council expresses its deep concern for their continuation, and their effects, complexities, negative and dangerous implications, and on this occasion we appeal to the International and Arabic community to stop the bloodshed and the use of excessive military force , to resort to negotiations and dialogue, to respect the will of Syria people of all national and religious sects to self-determination, to provide humanitarian assistance for Syrian refugees in neighboring countries and the region for their essential needs and to give our CSA(Soraya) people their full national legitimate rights, and on this occasion we strongly condemn and deplore the abduction of the two archbishops (Mar Yohnna Abraham and Mar Pauls AlYazigi) in Syria and demand freedom for them, because they are conveners of love, peace and co-existence.
In conclusion our Council confirms its persistence on its patriotic and national principles in order to achieve the legitimate rights of our people.
Salute to the sons of our Chaldean Syriac Assyrian (Soraya) in the sixth anniversary of the PC foundation.
Glory and immortality to the martyrs of our people and the martyrs of freedom everywhere
