It is one of the villages of Barwari Bala whose population was 28 people according to the 1957 census. The village was attacked and destroyed. Its inhabitants never returned back as it was covered by the evacuation schemes of the border areas. The village was famous for salt production due to the existence of salty water wells. And this is perhaps why it is called Malukhta (salty) in Aramaic.

Today, and through the support of Sarkis Aghajan, the Higher Committee for Christian Affairs in Duhok (HCCA) built 8 houses in the village in addition to carrying out water projects. The village was also provided with a power supply generator.
