Mr. Madloum Maroki , official of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrians Popular Council
office in Canada accompanied by Mr. Aphram Iskandar Alhozi, member of the
Council visited His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV , Patriarch of the Assyrian Church
of the East at his residence in Toronto.
His Holiness welcomed the delegation expressing his happiness for this visit,
then the delegation thanked the Patriarch after announcing his support for the
development of the province in the Nineveh Plain for all the components living
there, including our people , as well as his support for the autonomy in the
Kurdistan Region, His Holiness emphasized on the necessity and the need to unify
our parties, because we all belong to one church, so as to work hand in hand
for our people, especially that they are suffering from various kinds of marginalization
, displacement, killing and the demographic change that affected on their
villages and towns, which led to the decreasing on their numbers, and
consequently this will affect their future and their existence in the country,
however we are today desperately need to exchange views directly to remove the
obstacles that hinder our unity, and we should work with an open mind and the
love of Christ , who said one flock and one shepherd.
The delegation asked His Holiness for
his opinion on the letter that HH Patriarch Louis I Sako Patriarch of the
Chaldean Church, addressed to him on the occasion of his birthday, where he
said: “We have had contacts on the sidelines of this letter and we are ready to
open a dialogue, and even to activate the previous dialogue in the era of Mar
Raphael I Bedawed, taking into consideration a visit the Supreme Pontiff in
Rome in this regard, and we will not spare any effort to achieve this noble
objective , we need the Holy Spirit which accompanied the Apostles to enlighten
us, so as we become one church of Christ, based on his fame saying ( ( when two
meets on my name, I’m among them) ), and relatively, his sovereignty urged our writers and
journalists on the websites to stop and think before exchanging charges
haphazardly, so as the good word will fill the land for the good of all
believers.
At the end of the meeting, the
delegation thanked the Patriarch for the warm welcome. This meeting was also
attended by the Archbishop Mar Emmanuel Joseph Bishop of the Assyrian Church of
the East in Canada, Father Odisho Odisho the pastor of the Church of the Virgin
Mary in Toronto and Father Antoine Lajin the personal secretary to His Holiness.
