Mr. Madloum Mrouki the representative of the Chaldean Syriac Assyrian Popular
Council in Canada attended the seminar that was held by the Iraqi embassy in
the Canadian capital of Ottawa on the occasion of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, the Iraqi
Foreign Minister’s visit to Canada. During the seminar, in which the Iraqi
minister and other officials spoke, Mr. Mrouki demanded from the Minister that
there must be an international protection and a safe area for the displaced
Christians and Yezidis in the Nineveh Plain and Sinjar, so that they can return
to their villages and homes after they were evicted forcibly from them by the
Islamic State of Iraq (Daesh) who looted their homes and properties later. For
his part, Al-Jaafari objected the presence of international forces in Iraq under
the pretext of maintain Iraq's sovereignty and its control over its territory, the
strange thing to notice is that the Minister smiled after saying that and then wrote
down the observation in his notebook.
